Flint, becides being a loveable grumpy old dwarf, had a wide range of skills. He learned to become a mast in wood carving and metalsmithing from his father. He left his clan of Hill Dwarves in search of more work, and he found it. His skill was so great that it awed the elves in Qualinost enough that he was invited to practice his art in the city. Few dwarves have even been allowed in the city much less invited.

Here Flint met Tanis, his first of "young pups". He grew attached to this young half-elf and found that when he returned home to Solace he couldn't wait to go back in the spring.

After Tanis left Qualinost they became business partners in selling Flints jewelry, swords and the like. Many people came from around just to see and buy Flints works of art. He truly had a gift.

After awhile, Flint and Tanis met up with Tasslehoff and here starts another story. As much as Flint complained and cursed that "door nobb of a kender", he and Tas were good friends. Whenever Tas wasn't around Flint though about, and complained about, him. When Flint thought he was dead he also complained about him but missed him deeply.

During the War of the Lance, Flint "went along" with the "Nine" to "keep them in line" so they didn't get into too much trouble as they surely would if he didn't come along. During this time Flint was having health problems but never once complained because he didn't want to be a bother.

Sadly, Flint died in Godshome towards the end of the War. Everyone greeved for him but none so much as Tanis and Tas. Tanis looked to Flint for guidence and he was his "stready rock that would hold him in times of hardship".
